As a wedding planner in Switzerland, I remember stories that carve themselves not only into my professional memory but deep into my personal heart. On the occasion of their two‑year anniversary, I’m sharing the story of Krissy & Adrian — an intimate, surprise elopement in the Swiss Alps that proves how powerful small, well‑planned moments can be.

The Chedi Andermatt

How it began

I still remember when Krissy called me. Her voice trembled with excitement when she said, “I want to plan a surprise wedding for my fiancé.” As a wedding planner I was immediately thrilled — and had to be realistic. Because a civil ceremony in Switzerland cannot be held without both partners’ knowledge so this was off the table. But we quickly came up with another idea - a symbolic elopement in the Swiss mountains. From that moment I knew it would be magical.

Krissy wanted to give Adrian what he had always wanted: a small, intimate ceremony — just the two of them together with their kids. At the same time she wanted him to experience what many women do but men rarely get: to be truly surprised, to feel swept off his feet, to be the one who is asked. In just two months we planned an elopement that Adrian would never forget.

The day

Under the pretense of a “boys’ weekend,” Adrian traveled with his best friend to The Chedi Andermatt. Three days of skiing, snow and adventure — or so he thought.

On the second evening they were told there would be a whisky tasting. Instead of a sommelier, Adrian’s father waited outside of a wine cellar — holding a tie. He led Adrian in, where his mother, his best friend and a candlelit aisle awaited. At the end of that aisle stood two little boys — and Krissy. As the surprise settled, she asked the question of all questions: “Will you marry us?” He said yes. In that intimate moment they officially became a family of four.

The team behind the moment

This idea is exactly what My Memories stands for — unforgettable memories. But to bring such a dream elopement to life you need a team who shares the same passion. This wonderful day was possible because of this amazing team:

  • Ceremony: Nadine from Federleicht – She crafted the ceremony with tenderness and heart. A bit different than usually - working with only the bride’s perspective.

  • Photography: Gloria Velvet – Her images capture raw, unfiltered emotion and make the day come alive again and again.

  • Makeup: Flor Bustos - Ensured Krissy felt beautiful and confident throughout the day.

  • Flowers & Decoration: Kerstin from Blumenatelier Akebia - Understood the vision immediately and transformed the Location into a magical setting.

  • Wedding Dress: Truesociety – One dress, two looks — found three weeks before the ceremony and later altered by Art da Moda for their big celebration in Spain, leaving guests in awe.

  • Location: The Chedi Andermatt Provided the breathtaking backdrop; the hotel’s in‑house stylist took care of the bridal hair.

And me? I was the wedding planner who didn’t hang up when Krissy said, “I want to plan an elopement for my fiancé… in two months… and he mustn’t know.” It was a true honor.

One year after the Elopement

A year after their big celebration in Spain, Krissy shared this story publicly for the first time — until then only a few people knew. That secrecy is what makes the moment so special: a private, secret memory that belonged only to them.

If you’re dreaming of something similar, an elopement in Switzerland, or an intimate ceremony, I’d love to help you plan something equally unforgettable.
